Dec.8, 2009

Well Christmas isn't very far away and u can tell with all this cold weather and snow that everyone is getting into the Holiday Spirit!!!!! I know I am!!!!
Toady was a busy day at the library. I had 2 English Second Language students come down from the school to play on the kids computer. Its got a bunch of great programs that have the kids repeating what they say on the computers. They are both in Kindergarden and the difference in thier language ability already is awesome. I worked with them in the morning, then I had a little girl come in with her mom who had nothing to do so I showed her how to play on the kids computer.
In the afternoon I made some posters up for our Caroling Night and Hot Chocolate stand and I also made some notes up for the LeRoy Skating Club. Tomorrow the LeRoy Leisure Lotto come sinto the building and its a very busy place so I was busy tidying up and getting everything ready for them.

Talk to you all tommorrow.

December 3, 2009

Hi again everyone!!!!!

Today was a fun day at the CAP center, as I had a cyber camp for the kids. I think it is really important to have some place for the kids to come after school. I always try and teach them something on the computer and then also do a fun craft. Today we wrote letters to Santa Clause and they also played on the web site www.northpole.com. It's a great site you should check it out!!!! Then we also made snowflakes out of glue and sparkles, and they did some decorations that we can put on the Christmas Tree outside that the birds can eat!!. The kids have a blast when they come down and so do I. I spent the day getting ready for the camp.
Christmas is only 22 days away!!!! I love this time of year and I love to spread holiday Cheer...
I also had a lady bring her ESL (english second language) students down and work on the kids computer. We have some awesome programming on there that gets them saying words. One little girl is very shy and doesn't interact well with people. Yet when she was playing on this game, her little face came to life and she answered questions and explained what was happening to me and her teacher. It was pretty awesome to see.
Thanks again Alicia

December 2, 2009

Well today was a slow day for people coming into the library but I finished decorating for Christmas. I printed out some activity sheets for my cyber camp tomorrow and i also did some planning for a story hour that will start in January.
I have a lady who comes in quite often and uses the computers but she isn't that knowledgeable about them so everytime she comes in I give her a hand.
Today she wanted to learn how to upload pictures so that she can email them to her cousins in England. I showed her how to with the first one and then she was able to do the rest by herself....
I also washed down the library and the coffee center!!!

December 1, 2009

Today was a busy day at the LeRoy CAP center......We are busy decorating for Christmas and I am also coordinating a fundraiser for the Humboldt and District SPCA. This will be my third year with CAP and every year my cyber camps have done a "giving back" project. In other years we have made blankets and sent them to an orphanage in Haiti (which they researched online), we've also participated in Operation Christmas Child ( again they did a report on the poverty in the countries where the shoe boxes go to), we've also helped out with the food bank.

Today I helped a lady who has never had anything to do with computers but who wants to get her SIN # in Canada, find answers online that she needed in order to fill out her form. We have also set up a few dates so that she can come and I can help her out on the computers more.

I am busy getting ready for my cyber camp this Thursday. We are writing letters to Santa and also we will be making a Christmas ornament that we can use to decorate our Christmas tree...
I helped another lady load some pictures online and email them to her daughter!!!!!!
